Admission Application

b. Qualifications
I. Foreign students eligible to apply to Kaohsiung Medical University (KMU) refer to those who do not have overseas Chinese status or ROC nationality. 
II.Applicants who have dual nationality combining ROC nationality and foreign nationality are not eligible to apply for admission pursuant to the regulations for a period of eight years after the date on which their ROC nationality is revoked by approval of the Ministry of the Interior.
III.Foreign students who have already completed the application process for a degree program, or who have been expelled from any ROC university, are not eligible to re-apply for admission. Breaking either of the above rules will result in immediate cancellation of the applicant’s admission or deprivation of the applicant’s recognized status as a student of KMU. 
IV.Qualification for studying at Faculty of Medicine for Post-Baccalaureate
a. Bachelor degree or higher from a foreign institution, verified by the ROC Representative Office. 
b. GPA is required to be “B” or higher. 
c. At least four credits respectively for General Biology (including laboratory) and Chemistry (including laboratory).

Application Process 
a.Required Documents 
I. A completed application form. 
II. A photocopy of the highest education diploma verified by the ROC Representative Office in the country of their original school (Verified copies both in English and Chinese are required). The last year students must submit their diploma when they matriculate at KMU; otherwise, their admission will be cancelled. 
III.An official transcript of academic records in English or Chinese with verification by the ROC Representative Office in the country of their original school. 
IV.Two letters of recommendation. 
V. Health certificate including HIV test report. 
VI. A typed study plan in Chinese or English. 
VII.Financial statement (proof of sufficient funds for studying in Taiwan).
VIII. Foreign student admission is only for applicants who do not have the overseas Chinese status and ROC nationality. Any applicants considered “Overseas Chinese” must expatriate ROC nationality and attach certificate of Nationality Renouncement of Republic of China. 
IX. Applicant’s birth certificate and any document that shows the relationship between the applicant and his/her parents. Documents that certify the applicant’s nationality are also compulsive.
X.The non-refundable application fee of US$150 must be made payable to KMU.

** All required documents should be included with application materials. Any delayed documents or incomplete applications, except for the last year student’s diploma, will not be processed. Any affidavit won’t be accepted.

Screening and Selection Process
All the application documents submitted to the Office of Academic Affairs will be referred to each faculty. Each faculty or graduate program will organize an admission committee to process the initial screening and selection. The notification will be sent to each applicant who has passed the initial screening to take a written exam and an interview. The committee will process the final admission, and the notification will then be sent to each successful applicant.
